Spotlight Day: Egypt's Nubian Kings

What's On

Spotlight Day: Egypt's Nubian Kings

The display case is already drawing a small crowd of kids, trailing packed lunches and questions as big as pyramids. World Museum is making history come alive again – this time with a close look at Egypt’s southern neighbours who weren’t afraid to give the Pharaohs a run for their money. If you’ve ever wondered what happened south of the Nile (beyond rowers and the odd camel), here’s your chance.

What’s It About?

Spotlight Day: Egypt’s Nubian Kings gives visitors a taste of Ancient Nubia, the land once home to mighty kingdoms that stood toe to toe with Egypt itself. The day covers everything from the first Nubian cultures to the rise of a civilisation famous for its own powerful rulers – some of whom actually took over Egypt, crowns and all. The museum promises artefacts, fresh stories, and a look at why Nubia matters just as much as the Valley of the Kings. Perfect if you like your history with a bit of rivalry.

When Is It On?

This one-day event lands on 25 October 2026. Mark it on the calendar – these spotlight days tend to get families properly interested, so don’t be the soft lad who misses out.

Where Is It?

Head to World Museum, William Brown Street, Liverpool, L3 8EN. You won’t need a chariot, just dodge the traffic and keep your eyes peeled for giant sphinxes. (Okay, they’re not real – no panic.)

Tickets

This event is ticketed. Book your place through the official World Museum page for Spotlight Day: Egypt’s Nubian Kings. Don’t leave it to the last minute or you could end up fuming (just ask anyone who’s missed a ticket for the Egypt gallery before).
