You know you’re in Liverpool when someone’s more worried about missing the game than missing the bus. Now there’s another sport to fit into the calendar: basketball, right by the river. Forget NBA telly at 2am, this is Liverpool, and this time the action’s coming to the Arena.
What’s It About?
Liverpool Basketball’s debut season isn’t exactly a gentle introduction. The M&S Bank Arena is hosting a major clash, as Newcastle Eagles roll into town. Anyone who’s followed the sport will know Newcastle have a trophy cabinet heavier than a post-swim chippy tea. The Eagles aren’t just visiting – they’re Play-Off finalists and Trophy winners, and they’ll want to stamp their authority early on Liverpool’s home court.
For Liverpool, it’s all about marking their territory. Expect both sets of fans to make themselves heard, and maybe a few sharp elbows under the basket. If you’ve never watched British basketball up close, this is your chance to see what the fuss is about – fast, physical, and properly entertaining.
When Is It On?
The showdown takes place on Saturday, 25 October 2026. No start time has been confirmed, so keep an eye out for details if you’re planning your day around it.
Where Is It?
It’s all happening at M&S Bank Arena, Kings Dock, Liverpool Waterfront, L3 4FP. The Arena itself – none of the confusing side venues – so you can’t miss it. Right by the docks, sound for a pre-match walk or post-match pint.
Tickets
Tickets are available through the official venue. Head to the M&S Bank Arena event page to check availability and prices when they’re announced.

Liverpool taking on Newcastle in anything is bound to get lively. Basketball just gives us another excuse to lose our voices. Not that Scousers ever needed one.
