Tanyptera Project - Introduction to ‘Proctos’ Parasitoid Wasps

Magnifying glass in hand, you’re about to hear facts you never asked for about wasps. But these aren’t the stripy villains of your picnic nightmares – they’re the parasitoid wasps, stars of their own corner of the insect world. For once, the buzzing at World Museum isn’t a school trip.

What’s It About?

The Tanyptera Project is hosting an introductory workshop dedicated to ‘Proctos’ – that’s short for parasitoid wasps, not another band playing the O2. This is a back-to-basics, up-close look at some of the UK’s most overlooked insects. Expect practical learning as you get to grips with identification, ecology and the not-so-bad reputation of our six-legged friends. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast or you just want a story for your next pub quiz, there’s something to learn here.

When Is It On?

This one-day workshop lands on 6 November 2026, starting bright and breezy at 10:30am. No need to pack lunch for a weekend – it’s a single session.

Where Is It?

It’s all happening at World Museum, William Brown Street, Liverpool, L3 8EN. You can’t miss the lions outside – just follow the signs (and maybe a few bug enthusiasts).

Tickets

Places are limited and booking is essential. Reserve your spot directly via the official World Museum booking page.
