Costumes rustling, little ones wobbling on booster seats, and the Playhouse front doors propped open for coats and chaos: family theatre season has officially landed in Liverpool. This October half-term, Sir Charlie Stinky Socks is parking his trusty steed in Williamson Square for a run that promises a really big adventure (with a seriously fun name).
What’s it about?
If your kids are connoisseurs of grand quests and daft escapades, this one should tick every box. Sir Charlie isn’t your ordinary knight – he’s brave, bold, and slightly whiffy. Expect a tale where things aren’t quite as they seem, with puzzles to solve, tunes to hum, and lively storytelling. The show is based on the best-selling picture books, which means familiar faces for fans and plenty of new laughs for the uninitiated.
When is it on?
Sir Charlie rides into Liverpool’s Playhouse Theatre from 27th October to 31st October 2026 – right in the thick of half-term. Not a bad way to fill those restless autumn afternoons, especially if the weather’s doing its usual.
Where?
The action takes place at the Playhouse Theatre, bang in the heart of Liverpool on Williamson Square. Handy for a mooch around the shops before or after, or to bundle into a cafe if it’s tipping down. The venue’s one the city’s grandest, so you’ll get dead good views even if you’re sat near the back.
Tickets
Tickets are £14. The Playhouse usually recommends getting them early – no one likes explaining to a disappointed six-year-old why all the decent seats have gone. Book tickets from the official website here.
