It’s not every day you find yourself in Bedford Falls, but from mid-November, Liverpool has its own little slice of Christmas magic – in the middle of Roe Street traffic. If your idea of festive cheer is a proper heart-warmer with a few laughs thrown in (with a Scouse twist, naturally), then you’ll want to give this one a look.
What’s It About?
“It’s A Wonderful Life” is the story that’s had people blubbing quietly behind Quality Streets since black-and-white telly was the height of luxury. But forget Clarence and his American accent for one night: the Royal Court Studio is retelling the classic with the sort of warmth, wit and community spirit that always goes down well in Liverpool.
Expect the timeless tale of George Bailey, the fella who finds out what life in Bedford Falls would be like if he’d never been born. There’s ups, downs, and the kind of second chances that go dead well with a big box of tissues. With the Royal Court’s usual nod to local humour and proper storytelling, it’s bound to hit a sweet spot between nostalgia and a good night out.
When Is It On?
The show runs from 12 to 28 November 2026, kicking off each night at 7:00pm. Well-timed for anyone getting their Christmas jumpers out a bit early.
Where Is It?
Liverpool Royal Court – Studio, 1 Roe Street, Liverpool, L1 1HL. Right next to Queen Square – so you’re sorted for buses unless the Christmas markets have taken over the pavements again.
Tickets
Tickets are £20 and can be booked directly from the Royal Court’s official website: Book It’s A Wonderful Life here.

If you fancy a story about angels, hope, and what actually matters at Christmas (apart from sausage rolls), you know where to go. Just mind you don’t miss the last bus.
