You can hear the chatter before you’re even through the door: laughs bouncing round the room, the odd bag of crisps rustling, everyone playing it cool just in case the comic calls them out. Hot Water Comedy Club knows how to pack a Friday with brilliant stand-up, and this February, it’s Hayley Ellis who’s bringing the mischief.
What’s It About?
Hayley Ellis is taking on the classic Scouse pastime of showing off in front of your mates (as if anyone’s ever actually ‘just nipped the shop’ without a story to tell afterwards). Her show, cheekily titled Stop showing off in front of your mates, is a playful dive into the nonsense people get up to when their mates are watching – all told with Hayley’s sharp observational humour. If you’ve ever been caught doing something daft just to get a laugh, you’ll feel seen. She’s known for clever punchlines and tales that sound just a bit too close to home, so expect plenty of moments where everyone realises they’ve done it.
When Is It On?
The show lands at Hot Water Comedy Club on Friday, 5 February 2027. Doors open at 7pm – enough time to grab a bevvy and get settled before Hayley takes to the stage. Best behaviour, now.
Where Is It?
This one’s at the Hot Water Comedy Club, inside Blackstock Market, 17 Blackstock Street, Liverpool, L3 6ER. If you haven’t been before, look for the crowd outside trying not to laugh too loud before the show even starts.
Tickets
Tickets start from £16.00, according to the official Hot Water Comedy Club website. You can book directly with Hot Water Comedy Club here. If you’re thinking of bringing your mates so they can watch you pretend not to giggle, best nab them sooner rather than later.

Let’s be honest, any night out that starts on Blackstock Street and ends with everyone roasting each other down the taxi queue is usually a winner. Just try not to show off too much, soft lad.
