Always fancied making your own book, but the closest you’ve come is stapling together the chippy menu for safe keeping? Here’s your chance to get hands-on and learn a craft that’s older than half the city’s pubs. The Lady Lever Art Gallery is hosting a handmade book binding workshop this October, led by artist Wendy Williams.
What’s It About?
This workshop promises a proper introduction to the art of book binding, whether you want a smart sketchbook or something fancier to jot your thoughts (or secret recipes) in. Artist Wendy Williams will guide you through simple methods to stitch up your own handmade book. No blisters from running to Smithy’s for supplies – all the kit’s included. Plus, you’ll be able to take your finished book home. That’s something me ma would be made up with.
When Is It On?
The workshop takes place on 24 October 2026 at 3pm. It’s a one-afternoon affair, so you can still make it to the shops for whatever you’ve forgotten for tea.
Where Is It?
Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight Village, Wirral, CH62 5EQ. If you haven’t been, it’s worth a look, even before you get your hands covered in glue and creativity.
