Someone once said Liverpool’s got more comedians per square mile than chippies, but not all of them have ever dared a real stage. If you’re the joker at work or you’ve got one story your mates never let you forget, Hot Water Comedy Club now gives you a chance to turn those gags into proper stand-up. The Comedy Course for Beginners is coming up, and yes, even your nan thinks you should give it a go.
What’s It About?
This isn’t just one of those online things you forget you’ve signed up for. The Hot Water Comedy Club’s beginner course is a hands-on, face-to-face workshop where newcomers can get to grips with the basics of stand-up. It’s aimed at people who fancy giving comedy a go – whether you want to perform on stage, boost your public speaking, or just get more confident at weddings. Expect guidance from seasoned comics, practical advice, and a friendly crowd. They won’t throw you to the wolves (unless you count front row hecklers).
When Is It On?
The course runs on 18 February 2027. Doors open at 6pm – the classic time when nerves start kicking in, right after tea. Mark it in your diary and start jotting down your best (clean-ish) stories.
Where Is It?
The whole thing takes place right at the heart of Liverpool’s comedy scene: Hot Water Comedy Club, 17 Blackstock Street, Liverpool, L3 6ER. No need to travel to Manchester, and definitely no ferry across the Mersey required.
Tickets
It’s not a free-for-all at the back of the pub. Tickets start from £200 – a proper investment in getting your name up in lights (or at least on the open mic board). Book tickets and get all the details on the official Hot Water Comedy Club website. Places are limited, because nobody wants to stand up longer than they have to.
