You’re halfway up William Brown Street when you spot a brass plaque or battered suitcase in a glass case and think: ‘I wonder who used that?’ Now’s your chance to find out. World Museum is offering an anniversary gallery tour that puts Liverpool lives at the centre of its stories.
What’s It About?
Beyond the label: the personal and powerful – social history in National Museums Liverpool at 40 isn’t just a mouthful, it’s an in-depth look behind the scenes of the city’s social history treasures. The tour marks 40 years of collecting and sharing Liverpool’s past, guided by curator Kay Jones.
This isn’t a dry history lesson. Expect personal stories, unsung heroes, and the sort of objects that never get to star in the history books but hold a proper bit of local power. From everyday items to the truly unexpected, you’ll learn why they matter – and who they mattered to, once upon a Scouse time.
When Is It On?
This special anniversary tour takes place on 21 January 2027. Just the one date, so it’s sound advice to book ahead if you’re keen.
Where Is It?
World Museum, William Brown Street, Liverpool, L3 8EN. If you’ve ever been for a nosy up by the library or gallery, you know the spot.
