Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto 2026: Beauty and the Beast Takes Over the Everyman

You know it’s nearly Christmas in Liverpool when there’s a giant frog on the roof of the Everyman. Or a dancing Dame pelting the crowd with sweets, a drummer hidden behind the set, and a crowd of adults laughing just as loud as the kids. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto is back. In 2026, Beauty and the Beast takes its turn in the spotlight – and it’s about as far as you can get from a Disney sing-along.

What’s it about?

If you’ve not braved a Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto, think less ballroom-dancing teapots and more eye-watering guitar riffs. Every year, the Everyman chucks its panto script in the Mersey and rewrites the rules: multi-talented actors play every note live, and the fourth wall is history. This time, Beauty and the Beast gets the Scouse treatment, with plenty of local gags, raucous tunes, and three generations yelling “he’s behind you” at top volume. Expect everything but the kitchen sink – though, knowing the Everyman, the kitchen sink will probably turn up in one of the scenes.

When is it on?

The chaos kicks off from 14 November 2026 and runs all the way to 16 January 2027. That’s a good two months’ worth of panto mayhem, matinees, and evening shows for anyone who fancies a blast of daftness during the darkest part of the year.

Where?

All the shouting, singing and custard pie action happens at the Everyman Theatre – the big red-brick one on Hope Street, right between the cathedrals. Perfect for a pre-show scran or a sneaky drink after, seeing as it’s surrounded by plenty of proper Liverpool cafes and pubs.
